Long Live English :)
- I arrived in Spain on June the 2nd after a bit of travel problems and a BIG JetLag. my step-dad warned me saying " people here in Spain dont speak english ,and if you speak it youll seem like a snob." HARSH. of course every time I could ,I spoke it ( I dont think spanish is my first language. I speak too much english.). On my second day in Spain we visited the Royal Palace " El Palacio Real". Once inside and finished we visited the shops that were infront. My brother asked me to acompany him into a shop to by some "madrilian stuff". Inside the shop filled with shirts, bags, and mugs all with MADRID witten all over them was an american dressed in shorts a backpack and sneakers was having a hard time speaking to the vendor who poke horrible english. I saw a picture of Cristian Ronaldo and said to my brother "YESS le encontre algo a Mirna. Im saved." the man heard when I spoke spanglish and just said in an astonished voice "You speak english?!" I just responded with a nod. The man then with relief clearly written all over his face explained to me his situation of wanting to know if the shirt he wanted to buy was in a certain size and how much was the price in dollars. After all this talk i turned and talked to the vendor ( in spanish) who right away understood what the American wanted and helped him out. When my brother and I were leaving the man said some simple words that made me proud of my education. He said "it is good to have someone who understand English around.." My brother once outside just started laughing, but i kinda felt good to know the English Language. :)
